No place for guitarists? Ali Claudi and Martin Janneck present new album.

Ali Claudi is one of the pioneers of the electric guitar in Germany. His musical journey of more than sixty years through all possible styles began at a time when there was seldom room in musical groups for the guitar as a solo instrument. His new song “No Place for a Guitar Man” tells of those early days.

With him begins Ali Claudi’s and Martin Janneck’s new album “Flowers from the Guitar Men”. For the two guitarists, it was almost automatically clear from the opening piece what their CD should sound like: it had to be pop-oriented and heavy on the guitar. Konstantin Wienstroer on double bass and Kurt Billker on drums discreetly and effectively provide the foundation on which Alis and Martins can really develop different guitar sounds.

The selection of the other pieces is almost like a small model of Ali’s musical journey. The swing classic “Fly Me to the Moon” is next to the funk track “Sweet Emma”, the rock classic “Proud Mary” next to the 1950s hit “Singing the Blues”. Ali and Martin wrote the final piece “Flowers” together. The unmistakable playing style of both is the common thread of this diverse and refreshing album.
